Light Sheer Laser Hair Removal FAQ
How does the LightSheer Diode Laser System work?
The system emits near-infrared laser light that is absorbed by the pigment located in the hair follicle. The laser is pulsed, or turned on, for only a fraction of a second, just long enough to damage the follicle, while the systems unique, patented contact-cooling handpiece, the ChillTip, helps protect the skin during the laser energy delivery. The patented ChillTip combined with efficient, reliable, high-power diode technology, makes LightSheer laser the most advanced hair removal system available and the recognized gold standard for hair removal in the esthetic marketplace.
What advantages does the LightSheer have over other laser hair removal systems?
The LightSheer diode laser was designed from the ground up for laser hair removal, so it has the wavelength, fluence, pulse width, and active epidermal cooling system. The LightSheer Diode Laser has been developed to provide for enhanced comfort, speed and accuracy during treatment, and uses a unique cooling handpiece to minimize skin irritation that other methods may create.
Does the LightSheer work on tanned or different skin colors?
The LightSheer diode laser safely and effectively treats most skin colours. Using the appropriate treatment parameters, people with all skin types, and hair textures can benefit from laser hair removal with the LightSheer.
Are the Results Permanent?
The key to successful hair removal is destroying the entire hair follicle and the germinative cells. The LightSheer laser has been cleared by the FDA for hair removal and permanent hair reduction on all skin types and tanned skin. To achieve a satisfactory level of clearance, 3-5 treatments are typically required with appointments scheduled every 4-6 weeks. Shaving between your appointments, is perfectly fine, although we do not recommend waxing, tweezing or the use of depilatories.
Does it hurt?
At, Spa Utopia & Salon ™ we are dedicated to making the procedure as comfortable for you as possible. The sensation of the LightSheer diode laser is often described as an elastic band snapping against the skin. For that reason, we will apply ice to the treated areas. This makes your treatment virtually painless.

What is BBL?
Innovative Broadband Light technology utilizes the power of pulsed light to deliver excellent results in photo-rejuvenation therapy. Your medical esthetician will treat sun damage, age spots, and other skin blemishes. As a result, your skin's youthful appearance will be restored.
What does BBL do?
The light energy delivered by the BBL gently heats up the upper layers of your skin. The heat absorbed by the targeted areas will stimulate the skin cells. This will restore your skin to its natural beauty, making it smoother and more vibrant.
What areas can be treated?
Any area of your body can be treated. The most common ones are face, neck, hands, chest and shoulders, which typically are the most exposed to the damaging effects of the sun.

What areas can be treated?
Skin Tyte™ therapy is effective on all skin types and tones. The most common areas are those most exposed to the damaging effects of sunlight and wind. The most popular treatments are for the face, around the eyes, mouth and cheeks.
How many treatments will I need?
Clinical studies suggest that at least two treatments are needed to stimulate new collagen growth and most people will begin to see benefits by the fourth treatment.
Our medically trained estheticians may recommend regular touch-up treatments to sustain the continued growth of new collagen as you age.
Teeth Whitening FAQ
How does the SmileFx whitening system work?
You insert one of our dual sided mouth trays and turn the LED light on for 15 minutes. Our full spectrum blue LED light, with precise settings, is positioned between the upper and lower teeth. Our formulation has special light activated accelerators. Peroxide and oxygen will break into water molecules and free hydroxyl radicals. The oxygen radicals combined with carbon-based molecules in the stained teeth proceed to make all stains clear. This process will penetrate the tooth enamel but will not damage the enamel. Once the stains are removed, they will then attach themselves to the SmileFx whitening gel.
How long does this patented process take and what are the results?
Results vary as everyone is different, the grade of your teeth and your age can affect the process, we have a 3 - 15 minute treatment process that ensures the whitest teeth possible for almost every client.
How long does this process last?
6 months to 1 Year is normal, we do recommend that you care for your newly whitened teeth with our Maintain Fx whitening pen. Typically, we recommend pursuing another treatment every 6 to 12 months.
How often should I use the Maintain Fx pen?
We recommend that you use it several times a week.
Is SmileFx safe?
Research has shown that if teeth and gums are normal and healthy there are no adverse effects from teeth whitening. Our unique three-tray 45- minute method provides the highest level of personal safety in the industry. It is important that if you have any oral problems you consult with your dentist or doctor. People with tooth decay and with any type of gum disease should avoid teeth whitening products. People that are photosensitive or taking photosensitive medication should use the product without the light activation. People with sensitive teeth or with skin sensitivity should do one treatment at a time and space the treatments out over a number of days.
Who may benefit from the SmileFx system?
Almost everyone can enjoy the benefit to the whitening process if their teeth and gums are healthy. Teeth cannot be bleached whiter then genetically possible. Tetracycline stains may not be removed. Stains resulting from excessive fluorides or if the teeth are porous can expect limited results. Over 95% of our clients experience success and are happy with the results.
I have a crown on my anterior or front teeth. Will your product whiten my crown?
No, but the standard procedure is to first whiten all adjacent teeth, wait two weeks for the color to stabilize, then go to your dentist and have him match the crown to the new shade of your teeth. On the contrary, if a crown is already been in place for many years, the whitening process can return the rest of the teeth to the original shade prior to the crown placement. The same goes for composites, bridges, and veneers. Typically the process will return crowns and veneers back to the original colour at the time they where installed.
Will the gel you offer be the same as from my family dentist?
Similar but not the same. Almost all whitening products are similar in nature and use similar formulations, however, we have developed our own unique formulae to ensure maximum safety with maximum results.
What causes stains?
Some teeth are naturally pigmented or stained as they develop. Typically, stains come from exposure to tea, coffee, smoking, juices, colas, red wine, age, or just about anything that would stain a shirt or carpet. Things like blueberries and cherries and various curries are good examples of foods that stain.
Are there any side effects?
Some people may feel a little tingling sensation, white gum line, or sensitivity, all of which are normal and transient. Typically, this will only last less than 24 hours.
How long before I can eat or drink after my treatment?
The first 24 hours we would recommend avoiding coffee, tea, cola, red wine, berries, candy, red sauces, beets, or any foods that have the propensity to stain.
Do you recommend that the client wears protective eyewear?
You must wear the SmileFx protective eye-wear for precautionary purposes.
Does SmileFx work if you have tetracycline stains?
We say no, however, it can but it depends on how “grey” or discoloured the specific stain is and it will require multiple treatments. We would recommend at least 3 full treatments. In all circumstances when you require additional treatments beyond the initial three you can buy the additional treatments at that time.
What if my teeth are heavily stained?
Most people will achieve their whitest possible shade after the three sessions. In some cases for extremely stained teeth it can take up to 2 complete kits and a maintenance pen for stubborn spot removal.
If there is dehydration of the tooth, what do you recommend?
We use potassium nitrate in our gel to ensure that this does not happen.
Does the product contain glycerin?
Yes, it is synthetically manufactured and it is Kosher.
Does the product contain any alcohol, and can I use the SmileFx products twice in a row?
The product contains no alcohol and the mouth tray is disposable after each use. In addition we include various components in the kit in order to make the experience as enjoyable as possible.
Will the temperature of the light harm my teeth?
